Week 1: Imagine Your Future

Please use this link- Week 1: Imagine Your Future in order to complete week 1 activities.

  1. Create a MyCFNC account if you don't already have one.

  2. Plan a career.

  3. Find colleges and majors that are right for you

  4. Apply for parent and student FSA IDs.


Week 2: Prepare To Apply

Please use this link- Week 2: Prepare To Apply in order to complete week 2 activities.

  1. Decide which schools you will apply to during College Application Weeks (10/19-10/30).

  2. Speak with your counselors concerning fee waiver forms if applicable.

  3. Review application requirements for schools you plan to apply to and prepare essays or personal statements in advance.

  4. File your Free Application for Federal Financial Aid (FAFSA)

  5. Complete the Residency Determination Service (RDS)


Week 3: Application Week

Please use this link- Week 3: Application Week in order to complete week 3 activities.

  1. Begin your college applications this week by going to the Application Hub on CFNC.org.

  2. Complete and submit the FAFSA form with help from parents or legal guardians.

  3. Complete the Residency Determination Service (RDS) process, if you have not already. This allows you to apply for in-state Residency for tuition purposes as well as become eligible for state grants.

VIRTUAL Future Teacher Conference, October 28, 9:30-1:00

The Future Teacher Conference is an opportunity for high school students to get a taste of the Watson College of Education and UNCW. During our virtual conference, we will offer sessions taught by our faculty/Staff for students, based on their educational interests. Back by popular demand, we will also have our student panel discussion. This is FREE to any high school student interested in exploring teaching as a major/profession. The agenda will be emailed to all who are registered on Monday, October 26 and you may select the sessions you want to attend.

All WHS Juniors will start the ACT Prep Course 10/26/2020. The Prep course will finish the week before students are scheduled to take the ACT on February 23, 2021. Our school goal is to increase the number of students scoring a 17 or higher on their composite score.

On Thursday, May 10, US News and World Report released its rankings of Americas Best High Schools. Over 20,000 high schools were evaluated based on data from state and national testing. Whiteville High School received the national recognition of bronze medal status as well as being selected in the top 10% of all high schools in North Carolina (57th of 582).
