We are incredibly proud to announce that the Whiteville High School Band Program has been recognized by the North Carolina Bandmasters Association as a 2025–2026 Program of Distinction!
WHS is one of only 14 schools in the Southeastern Band District to receive this recognition, which celebrates exceptional standards of musical excellence, artistry, and community leadership.
Congratulations to Director of Bands Mr. Allister Sontag and our talented band students! This honor reflects countless hours of rehearsals, performances, preparation, dedication, and teamwork. We are also grateful for the families, staff, boosters, and community members who continually support our band program.

Whiteville City Schools came together this morning for our annual WCS Convocation Breakfast, and we were especially proud to hear from one of our own, WHS Senior Class President Bryson Dockery.
Bryson reminded us that the opportunities our students experience are made possible by an entire school community, including teachers, administrators, support staff, cafeteria staff, custodians, bus drivers, SROs, and so many others. Most importantly, he reminded us that the work being done today will be revealed through the generations of students who go on to impact the world.
His challenge was simple but powerful: “I expect something great to happen and with your help, it will.”
We expect something great, too!

Our goal is simple: to create a learning environment where students are fully engaged, focused, and free from unnecessary distractions. The outstanding academic gains our students made last year remind us that focused classrooms matter.
As we started last school year, all personal electronic devices must be secured during the school day. This includes:
📱 Cell phones
⌚ Smartwatches
💻 Personal laptops (other than the school-issued Chromebook)
📱 Tablets and iPads
🎧 Wireless headphones and earbuds (including AirPods and similar devices)
📟 Any other personal electronic devices
Students will place these items in the designated secure location upon entering each classroom, and they will remain there until the end of the class period. Devices may not be used during class changes or lunch.
School-issued Chromebooks will continue to be used for instructional purposes as directed by teachers.
If you need to reach your child during the school day, or if your child needs to contact you because of an urgent situation, our main office is always available to assist.
We appreciate the partnership of our students, families, and staff as we implement this policy. By reducing distractions, we can continue to maximize instructional time, strengthen student engagement, and create the best possible learning environment for every student.
